Association membership categories shall be classified as: “Active”, “Associate” and “Life.”  A category of “Corporate Sponsor” will be allowed with a majority vote of the State Board of Directors.


All law enforcement officers, any person employed full or part-time as law enforcement instructors in any public educational institution, and persons currently engaged in police training activities in a public safety agency, are eligible and may apply for Active membership.  Active members have voting rights.

Active members receive complimentary entry to CAPTO Training Days and will receive a current member list for networking.

Any member in good standing who has:

  • Served a full term in a regional or state board position
  • Has been an active CAPTO member for 5 years
  • Has clearly provided outstanding service for the organization

can be voted as a Life Member by the State Board of Directors.  Only one member per calendar year in the state shall be voted into the Life Membership category.  A Life Member is exempt from paying yearly dues.  Life Membership candidates must be nominated by local regions accompanied by support paperwork outlining the outstanding service.


Corporate members are corporations or organizations related to the field of Law Enforcement Training or Equipment.  Corporate members pay an annual fee for the right to post links or advertisements upon the association’s website.  Corporate members may not hold elective office or exercise voting privileges.  Corporate members may attend scheduled meetings only for presentation of information, materials or equipment at the discretion of the regional boards.
